CLUSTER II: LOS ALAMOS OUTING

This year's UC Davis COSMOS Cluster-II, Physics of Electro-optics and Nuclear Technology, anticipates to make a topical multi-day field trip to Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) in Northern New Mexico. This trip, co-organized by UC Davis COSMOS Cluster-II, the Materials Design Institute (LANL), and Los Alamos Neutron Science Center (LANL) is meant to illustrate "big science and technology" as well as one of the most important scientific institutions that has changed the course of history through its scientific and technological contributions.
For example, we are planning to visit Bradbury Science Museum in Los Alamos for a historical overview of the Laboratory, and then tour a few selected facilities at the Laboratory, such as the Neutron Scattering Center. We also plan on visiting, e.g., Bandelier National Monument to experience the natural beauty of Northern New Mexico.

Funding for the COSMOS Cluster-II field trip to Los Alamos, New Mexico is provided by the US Department of Energy program Nuclear Energy Research, Development and Demonstration under the Nuclear Energy Research Initiative through contact number DE-FG07-071D14893.

Since the Los Alamos National Lab is a high secured facility, each participant will be required to go through a "clearance" process.

Additional information about the "clearance" process will be sent once you have been admitted to the cluster.

If a student does not pass the "clearance" process, the cluster will do its best to plan an alternate activity in Los Alamos for these students.
